Diya’s commitment to community service extends beyond her Mission Music project. Diya’s dedication to inclusivity and her desire to give back to the community reflect her broader commitment to making a positive impact in diverse areas beyond her musical endeavours.
Yearbook Editor
The yearbook is a student-led initiative that plays a vital role at Woodstock School. Released at the end of each academic year, it serves as a cherished compilation of the year’s memories. Diya has served as the editor of the yearbook since 2023 and will continue in this role until the end of 2025.
As the editor, Diya is responsible for coordinating with both the business and photography teams to manage logistics and ensure all necessary photographs are included. She leads a team of around 12 designers, guiding them in the use of editing software like InDesign, assigning tasks, and reviewing and refining their submissions to ensure the final product is polished and cohesive.
Lead Coordinator of Coffee House Evenings
Coffee House evenings, an initiative led by the Centre For Imagination (CFI) at Woodstock School, are vibrant events where students are invited to showcase their talents in music, poetry, dance, and more. Since 2023, Diya and her classmate Rijul have taken the lead in organising and hosting these events. Their responsibilities include planning event details, coordinating materials, managing logistics, and advertising to maximise student participation. Through these evenings, Diya and Rijul foster a sense of community and creativity, further extending Diya's commitment to enriching the school environment.
Internship at the KM Music Conservatory, Sunshine Band
Diya undertook a significant internship at the KM Music Conservatory, a premier institution for music education founded by Grammy award winning artist A.R. Rahman. During her time there, Diya interned with the Sunshine Band, a group dedicated to bringing music to various community settings. Her role involved engaging with diverse audiences, from children to the elderly, showcasing her versatility and commitment to using music as a means of connection and joy. Through these internships, Diya further developed her musical abilities and reinforced her passion towards making a positive impact through her art.
D&D Masks
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Diya and her friend Devyani launched a commendable initiative to create and distribute masks. From designing and manufacturing to marketing via Instagram, the girls managed every aspect of the project. They meticulously crafted masks and promoted their efforts to raise awareness and drive sales. All proceeds from their mask sales were donated to an NGO that supports women, reflecting their dedication to both community service and social impact during challenging times.
Contributing to Media Platforms
Diya showcased her versatile talents as the anchor for *Igraasp*, a children-led news channel. In this role, she brought energy and professionalism to the channel, engaging young viewers with her spirited presentation style. Her work involved hosting and facilitating various segments, contributing to the channel’s growth and success while further sharpening her skills in media and communication.
Vocalist and Tribute Performer for The Lawrence School Sanawar’s COVID-19 Memorial Service
Diya lent her voice to an online memorial service organised by the prestigious Indian school, The Lawrence School Sanawar. Her performance was a tribute to the families affected by COVID-19. By offering her talents, Diya provided comfort and support to those grieving their losses, demonstrating her compassion and dedication to using her music to help others in times of need.
